Wigs and Labor Day

Y'know, I never update this stupid thing in a relevant or noteworthy fashion. In fact I think the majority of the time, I am away from home and BORED OUT OF MY FREAKING MIND. But that's only half of the time. :D

I really didn't know that I had so many relatives, or at least on my mom's side of the family. I guess I just spend too much time with dad's side that I've never known that there were others....Blech. Not that I mind meeting new people...It's just AWKWARD. I've been sitting in the backroom of this place with my sister, doing pretty much what I'd do at home- procrastinate. I did go out for all of 30 minutes though! Just long enough to meet-and-greet, grab some food, and stand awkwardly in the corner wondering when we get to leave. (Though my gut instinct on that one is "NOT SOON")

In other more "art" related news, if you will, I've begun my first attempt at sharpie dying a wig. It hasn't gone terribly wrong YET, but just enough to make me want to set it down for a while as I strategize for the next, oh say, month? :giggle:

The current project is a double costume project for me and my sister. Because she's younger than me, I thought it'd be fun to do a cosplay of Sakura from Naruto, with me being the Shippuden version and her as the original, long-haired, annoying version. Fun, right? The <s>only</s> problem is that she's six years younger than me, but only 4 inches shorter. Translation: she's growing like a weed on steroids right now. It's depressing when your little sibling is almost taller than you. So the project has become priority for now, even WITH wig frustrations.

And on a final note, I think I'm getting sick. Flu's been going around here, and I might be next. And oddly enough, I kinda hope so. That English project I've been staring at for the past week hasn't done itself yet, so I think I might have to step in and help it along, making an extension due to sickness rather...opportune.

Ahhh procrastination....

Wish I had Paypal...or something...

So, I've been on vacation for around 2 weeks now. It's been great, really, but I'm ready to hop into gear now. Too bad I'm stuck in a condo with little kids crawling everywhere. The positive side is that I learned that my 4-year-old cousin likes to eat lemons. Straight up. Uh huh...:lemon:

So, summer is kind of "cosplay season" for my friends and me, if you will. I've made two costumes already this summer: one I'm incredibly proud of (Rikku from FFX) and another that I wish I had done better ^^; (Namine) I'll probably remake that...one day. (The procrasinator's creed :D) Check them out here-> :iconmad-tea-party-prodn:

The only convention we get to go to yearly is coming up. Mechacon in Lafayette, LA. July 24-26. Good stuff. This will be my...3rd year going and my 2nd year cosplaying. This year, as plans are made, changed, and rearranged, I'm going as Princess Peach one day...and I'm not sure of the second...^^; Perhaps the March Hare? Or maybe a random bystander? Time will tell.

Nevertheless, I've started making plans for future cosplays. I obtained a spiral bound notebook the other day and presently began sketching, brainstorming, crunching numbers etc. etc. The great thing is, I enjoy all the pre-planning immensely. Even though I kinda suck at drawing. It's all very laughable, really. But you have to have a gameplan, right? I'd go mental if I didn't.

I won't divulge all my plans now (especially if they end up falling through, then I'd feel foolish), but I will let one out, because I WILL DO IT! RAWR!

Nabooru from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. ACKACKACK. I hope I don't end up regretting it, but she's a character I...respect a lot. The Gerudo Valley Theme is also my favorite song. Of all time. Nice correlation, if I do say so myself.

...Realizing that I look nothing like her pigment-wise, we'll probably crack out the airbrush machine again for that... AS LONG AS the owner of it allows (RACHEL I'M BEGGING YOU!)

More plans, but I'll try to move in moderation. I'd hate to wear myself out right before school starts :giggle:

Senior year FTW

MENTAL SUICIDE, ANYONE???

Y'know, you don't really realize how much you depend on technology until it's taken from you. For instance, my school-issued laptop crashed a couple of weeks ago. Sadly, I didn't have everything backed up. And what I did have backed up, well, it's on a USB that has been *ahem* confiscated by my teacher.

So all the literature notes that I was gonna study for the English Final I have in exactly two minutes? Don't have 'em. I'm totally winging an exam that consists only of 10 essays. Or is it 15? Well, I'm about to find out, aren't I?

Funny, I'll probably freak out in a little bit, but right now, I'm just laughing. :evillaughter:

I'm psychotic.

Commit to Memory

Today was one of the best days of my life. Without its problems? No, but it one of the happiest experiences that I can immediately recall. Therefore, I will recollect as much of it as I can here, so that I may never lose the small details of today that made it so special~

I had to sleep on the couch the previous night because my mother couldn't stand my father's snoring. I let FFVII: AC play on the TV all night, waking up to "One-Winged Angel." Took a shower, got ready, left for school. Mom took the time to recall the story she tells me every year (about how my dad slyly didn't reveal my gender to grandmother after being born).

Drove to school playing my favorite songs. Mainly Utada~

Everyone was so extremely thoughtful, I just wanna cry thinking about it. Not only they get me gifts, they were all so personal and heart-warming. Among such things (but not limited to these) are a music box that plays "Memory" from the musical Cats, a *ahem* customized edition of Assassin's Creed, sparkling grape juice, giant pettifores (a word that I have never managed to find the correct spelling to ^^;), a comic strip, pocky....The list goes on. Regardless, it's not so much the things I got, but that the people actually put thought into their gifts. I really, truly couldn't be happier right now~!

I also got cards from family members and even my brother called! Kailin left a message on my phone that was full of love and splendor and Kaitlin-ness, it makes my insides bubbly. My sister sent me a text message as well. Tyler's text message was so random it made me laugh for QUITE some time, and Rachel, I'm so touched that you hold me in such regard.

I passed a test that the rest of my class failed, apparently, and I managed to get an A on a test I forgot about. Rachel scratched my back for the entirety of Easter Chapel. I was sung the birthday song two times by Coach Vice alone, and 5 times altogether today.

I drank the entirety of my bottle of sparkling grape juice at drama practice. Did you know that a bottle of that stuff has 114g of sugar in it? I sense diabetes in my future~

After drama practice, Mom brought me a birthday cake (white cake with chocolate frosting). Mom misspelled my name, but I do that too, so I didn't really mind. I just laughed while pointing it out. Then we fooled around for an hour or so doing stunts of all sorts. For me, was simply trying to conquer jumping the five stairs leading to the Back Door and attempting a frontwards roll.

Then everyone came to my house (INCLUDING JUICY. This WAS his birthday gift to me, in my eyes~) and we watched to newest episode of Heroes. We all drank green tea and ate the rest of the birthday cake. After it was done, everybody left as I attempted to not immediately pass out.

I'm so happy. I really, truly am. I feel...loved

:cheese:

On the Way to Memphis

Fri Mar 20, 2009, 2:17 PM
  • Mood: Tired
  • Listening to: Radio
  • Watching: highway
  • Eating: quarter pounder
  • Drinking: water
Well, I'm what the title says- on the way to Memphis. I've been in the car for, let's see, 9 hours? That is, if you include the two hours taken to sit in an un-air conditioned camper as my dad WROTE A CHECK. Someone please explain how writing a check takes 2 hours. Regardless, I've been travelling for 7-9 hours now.

So how am I on the internet? Because, dear reader, my dad has this amazing little device that I like to call THE AMAZING LITTLE INTERNET CREATOR!!! I'm sure it has a more technical name, but I think mine works just as well.

On this lovely road trips of sorts, I've learned some very important life lessons:
-iPod batteries don't last as long as you want them to. EVER.
-Covering your head with a sweater and forgetting to turn on the air-conditioning is rather uncomfortable. Especially if you just ate fast food. (More on this later)
-Gravel + steep slopes + slip-on shoes = DUMB DUMB DUMB.

(Haha, my parents just freaked out and thought we were lost. It took them quite a while to calm down and figure out that they were still going the right way.)

So about that sweater....

I brought my PSP and my copy of Final Fantasy: Crisis Core to play. Well, I started playing and I got to Chapter...11, I think. Caves and darkness and stuff. Well it's midday outside, and no matter how bright I make the screen, I can't see jack-squat. I wander around for a good 30 minutes before switching to Plan B. I throw my sweater over my head to eliminate the dreadful glare. Too bad the backseat of this car has absolutely no circulation or sun protection. Plus, I had just eaten McDonalds. Needless to say, I played for an hour, feeling ready to throw up the whole time. That or die of heat stroke. Oh, the things I do for video games :D Still haven't beaten it though....

I'm trying to think of something else to say, but my leg is distracting me. It has been in a daydream state for the past 3 hours. Not quite asleep, but certainly not awake either. Painful....

One of the weirdest compliments that I've ever gotten:
"You're like a female Ichigo. Except you're not as frowny...and you don't have kick-butt shinigami powers."

Thanks. I'll treasure those words forever.

OOh!! Utada Hikaru's newest English album is coming out in FOUR DAYS!!! US DEBUT ZOMG~!~! I've been following her for the past...3 years now, and I really hope this is a big success for her. Utada rocks my musical socks :giggle:

Uhm, birthday's in ten days.... Most exciting part? NO CURFEW!!! Cannot wait to be 17.

We're almost at the hotel, so I must depart.
